Ayako Fujiki Releases Piano Album Inspired by Nature
As someone who grew up playing the piano, I’m delighted to introduce Ayako Fujiki, a Japanese pianist set to release a new album of personally composed music. Brightwater is a melodic journey inspired by elements of nature, offering reflections on the beauty of eroded landscapes. This sensitivity to nature is distinctively Japanese, but Ayako’s music has several layers; having trained under renowned pianist Alicia de Larrocha, and now living in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Ayako also takes inspiration from Spanish classical music and culture. Having gained accolade from Spanish press, who describe her as ‘one of the most significant Japanese composers of contemporary classical music’, (Clasica2) Ayako is clearly engaging audiences across the globe. With a September release date for the UK, and performances planned, Ayako looks set to captivate audiences here as well.
Bright water is technically flawless, and Ayako’s melodies are captivating, with elements of both European and Japanese cultures evident. It is at times energetic, and at times serene, flowing beautifully from one melody to the next. In a fast paced and at times stressful world, Ayako’s music allows the listener to be transported from daily life to an oasis of calm.
Sit back and enjoy music from the title track of Ayako's upcoming album Brightwater...
